The Ford Motor Company is calling attention to a potential safety issue on one of its new pickup truck models.
The automaker issued a recall on Friday afternoon for thousands of 2019 Ford Ranger Supercab pickups. The right-front seat belt may have been incorrectly assembled, which could result in an increased risk of injury in a crash.
Fewer than 7,600 pickup trucks were sold in the U.S., and about 400 in Canada, according to the recall notice. No injuries or collisions have been reported as a result of this issue.
Pickup owners are being asked to bring their vehicles to a Ford service centre for inspection. If a defective seat belt is found, dealers will replace it free of charge. The reference number is 19-S-23.
The trucks were built at Ford's Wayne Assembly Plant outside Detroit between June 2018 and June 2019.
This is the second recall issued by Ford in a week. A recall of over 58,000 select Ford Focus sedans was issued on Tuesday due to a glitch in the powertrain module software used to service those cars.
