The Chatham-Kent Public Library brought the Middle Ages to Tilbury on Tuesday afternoon.
The public library Tilbury branch hosted "Life in the Middle Ages," an interactive event that gave children and adults a first-hand, educational look at what life was like in medieval times.
It was put on by the local members of the Society for Creative Anachronism, an international living history group that recreates European medieval cultures and histories.
Laura Battista, one of the members of the group, taught the crowd fencing techniques on Tuesday.
"Because we're a non-profit organization we have a teaching capacity so we work with local schools and libraries... to do demos of what we do and what it was like in the middle ages and get some hands-on crafts and stuff," she said.
Besides learning about fencing, throughout the day the group also taught card weaving, how to make period-style clothing and how to use a spindle.
