Man charged with mischief after an argument on Bear Line Road
A 23-year-old Chatham man has turned himself in to police following an argument that resulted in a mother and her eight-month-old baby being stranded on the side of the road.
The incident occurred on Saturday in the area of Bear Line Road where police said the man reached over and grabbed the key from the ignition while his partner was driving. As he pulled the key, it allegedly broke and stalled the vehicle.
Police allege the man fled on foot leaving the baby and mother stranded.
On Sunday afternoon, the man attended police headquarters and turned himself in.
He has been charged with mischief and was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

A 41-year-old Chatham man is being charged with break and enter after he was allegedly found washing his clothes in a house that is under construction.
Police said the man was found in the residence on Murray Street at around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday morning.
He was arrested at the scene, charged and then released with conditions and a future court date.
