Police nab three people wanted on warrants

Friday was a successful day for police in Chatham-Kent when it came to catching people wanted on arrest warrants.

Yesterday afternoon a 32-year-old man from Walpole Island was located by Walpole Island Police. He was wanted on a warrant for failing to attend court. The man was turned over to CK police and brought to court for a bailing hearing.

During the same afternoon, officers were on general patrol when they located a 49-year-old woman who was wanted for breaching her court-ordered curfew. She was arrested and taken into police custody for a bail hearing.

Lastly, Friday evening police on patrol in Chatham located a wanted man on Merritt Avenue. The 35-year-old was arrested for breach of probation. He was given a future court date and released from custody.

Man charged with public intoxication

A man got in some trouble with the law having a few too many.

It happened late Friday night in Dresden. Officers noticed the man walking on the road. They were concerned with his safety and took him into custody after realizing he was unable to care for himself.

The 19-year-old Oneida man was charged with being intoxicated in a public place. He was released when sober.

Youth volunteers practice coastal conservation

Nine young volunteers aged 11 to 17 spent three days exploring and protecting the Lake Huron coastline during the Coastal Conservation Youth Corps' inaugural program in Grand Bend from July 21 to 23.
