Police nab two wanted persons

During a disturbance call on Thames Street in Chatham on Wednesday, police captured two suspects who were wanted on outstanding warrants.

A 27-year-old man who was wanted in London, Ontario and a 37-year-old woman known to Chatham police were both located and arrested.

Neither of the individuals' identities has been released.

The woman was transported to Chatham-Kent police headquarters and lodged for a bail hearing.

Stay off your phone while driving, police warn 

Chatham-Kent police are warning residents to stay off their cell phones while driving.

To that end, the department has included a checklist for what is constitutes as illegal while driving:
  •          Using a phone or other hand-held wireless communication device to text or dial.
  •          Using a hand-held electronic entertainment device, such as a tablet or portable gaming console.
  •          Viewing display screens unrelated to driving, such as watching a video.

Stop making false calls, say police

False 911 calls are continuing to pull officers away from incidents that require their attention, police said in a statement on Thursday.

"The Chatham-Kent Police Service would like to ensure that everyone knows what number to call should they require police assistance," said police. "If you have a life-threatening emergency or would like to report a crime in progress, please call 911 immediately."

  • General inquiries,  519-436-6600 ext. 222.
  • Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477)

Chatham-Kent police remind you not to call  911 unless it is an emergency.
