Impaired driver hits cyclist in Chatham

A 23-year-old Chatham woman has been charged after hitting a cyclist while allegedly driving while impaired.

Police say an SUV and cyclist collided on Queen Street around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday. The 26-year-old woman on the bicycle was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The officer suspected the driver of the SUV was under the influence of alcohol so a roadside breath test was done, which the woman failed.

She was arrested and charged with impaired driving causing bodily harm, and was released with a future court date.

Camaro stolen in Wallaceburg

Police in Wallaceburg are looking for a 1986 Camaro Z28 that was stolen from a residence on Wallace Street.

The vehicle, worth $10,000, was stolen sometime around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday. It was last seen with the Ontario license plates BFCB 635.

$15,000 worth of tools stolen

Chatham-Kent police are investigating after four trucks at Aecon Construction on Bothwell St. in Chatham were entered.

The theft happened sometime between 2 p.m. on Saturday and 7 a.m. Monday.

Various tools worth approximately $15,000 were taken.

Man arrested after running from police

Running from police has landed a 34-year-old man back in police custody.

The suspect was released from court last month with several conditions, including living at an address in Shrewsbury, and a curfew.

But on Monday night, police found him hiding in the stairwell of an apartment building in Blenheim just before 11 p.m.

He tried to run but was taken into custody a short distance away. He was arrested on several outstanding warrants and is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
