Police locate woman on the run from boyfriend
Police were able to intervene in a scary situation for a woman in Chatham.
On Sunday night, a 911 all was made from a woman who said she was running away from her boyfriend. Officers were able to locate the woman on Grand Avenue and learned that she had been assaulted by the man and that he had stolen her phone after she made the call to police.
Police located and arrested the man early Monday morning. The 29-year-old from Chatham has been charged with theft under $5,000, two counts of assault, and two counts of uttering threats. He has been held in police custody for a bail hearing.
Man facing eight charges after domestic violence incident
A man from Chatham is facing a long list of charges following a domestic dispute.
The trouble began Monday morning after a verbal argument between a man and a woman turned physical. Through investigation, police learned that this was not the first time domestic violence had occurred between the couple.
Police arrested the 50-year-old man and charged him with mischief under $5,000, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon, two counts of uttering threats, and three counts of assault. He is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Break and enter in Shrewsbury
Police are looking for the people responsible for stealing several thousand dollars worth of items from a house in Shrewsbury.
It happened sometime overnight on April 14 or 15 after the suspects forced their way into the residence through the front door.
The culprits were able to get away with $7,500 worth of items and the incident remains under investigation.

Woman confronts man, gets assaulted
A disturbance at a Chatham business has led to a man facing assault charges.
The disturbance happened early Sunday evening when a female employee at the business confronted the man about an on-going theft investigation.
The man ended up assaulting the woman and leaving the store. Officers were able to locate him shortly after and took him into custody.
The 44-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with assault. He is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Man winds up with three charges after kicking in door
A man is facing several charges after getting a little too rowdy in a Dresden apartment building.
It happened around 3 a.m. Tuesday morning when officers arrived to a call about a man kicking in the building's lobby door.
The man fled the scene before police got there but he was soon located driving in the area. Officers realized the man was intoxicated and arrested him for impaired driving as well as mischief.
Once a breathalyzer test was conducted he was also charged with intoxication over 80. The 36-year-old has since been released from custody with a future court date.
Two people arrested in Chatham apartment
After only going in for one person, police left a Chatham apartment with two people in custody.
Shortly before 3 a.m. Monday, officers were able to locate a man inside the apartment who was wanted for failing to comply with release conditions. Inside the apartment, there was also a woman who police learned was on conditions not to communicate with the man. After officers arrested her they found her in possession of meth. She has been charged with failing to comply with her release conditions as well as drug possession.
Both the man, 36, and the woman, 26, are being held in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
Public intoxication in Chatham
A 38-year-old had to spend some time with police after having a few too many.
It happened Monday afternoon around 2 p.m. in the area of Edgar Street in Chatham. The man was arrested for public intoxication.
He was released once he sobered up.
Woman charged with assault after domestic dispute
A 19-year-old Chatham woman is in trouble with the law after allegedly assaulting her boyfriend.
According to police, they received a call Sunday afternoon about a domestic dispute at a house on St. Clair Street in Chatham.
As a result, the woman was arrested and charged with assault. She is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
