Chatham-Kent's new animal shelter is getting a financial boost from TekSavvy as it prepares to open this spring.
The local telecommunications company announced on Friday that it has donated $10,000 to The Friends of the New Animal Shelter to help with the shelter's fundraising efforts.
"Our hope is that having a space that is warm and friendly in the new building will support families and pets finding each other," said Spencer Antaya, TekSavvy's manager of strategic partnerships and sponsorships.
The new shelter is set to open in May, however, the shelter is hoping to raise another $15,000 to finish furnishing the building and to purchase specialized animal equipment. Donations can be made online through The Friends of the New Animal Shelter or in person at the Chatham Kent Civic Centre.
The new animal shelter is located on Park Avenue East in Chatham, where the former shelter was located.
