Municipal officials are reminding residents to keep roadway visibility in mind when planting this spring.
The Chatham-Kent Road Authority is stressing the importance of not planting vegetation on municipal right of ways as it may cause difficulties for drivers at intersections. According to a media release, plants that are placed too close to roadways may also cause drainage and erosion problems.
"The municipality will not be held responsible for damage or loss to vegetation planted on a municipal right of way," read in the release. "If you are unsure whether you are encroaching on the municipal right-of-way, please call (519) 360-1998, and staff will provide you with accurate property lines."
In light of springtime weather conditions, the municipality is also reminding drivers to be cautious on mud-covered roadways to avoid potential skidding.
