Out past his curfew

A 35-year-old Chatham man who was allegedly out past his curfew last night is spending some more time in police custody.

Chatham-Kent police said the man was released from custody over the weekend with several conditions, one of which required him to reside at a specific address in Chatham and obey a daily curfew of 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Police said when officers went to check on him shortly after 8 p.m. Monday, though, they learned from the homeowner that the man had allegedly left Sunday night and never came back.

An officer spotted the accused on King Street in Chatham early this morning and arrested him. He was then charged with failing to comply and was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.
