We should have a better idea Thursday evening of how Chatham-Kent residents feel about the idea of building a new arena in Chatham.
Municipal officials are set to release the results of a survey on that prospect at a public meeting set to run from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Civic Centre (315 King St. W) in Chatham.
The survey, with a stated goal of receiving resident input on "a proposed arena development in Chatham that would replace or repurpose Memorial and Erickson Arenas," closed on February 21.
At that time, Chatham-Kent’s Manager of Parks and Open Spaces Jeff Bray, who was in charge of overseeing the survey, said he was impressed with the volume of replies and also believed it included a good range of responses from people across the municipality.
Municipal staff will be available at the drop-in style meeting Thursday evening to review the results and to receive more feedback from area residents.
The results of the survey and the public input meeting will be compiled and later presented to Chatham-Kent Council.
