Argument takes a violent turn

A 52-year-old Chatham man is facing multiple assault and threat-related charges after an argument turned physical early Sunday morning.

Police said the man is accused of assaulting his ex-girlfriend after they were arguing and officers said they learned that wasn't the first time he had allegedly assaulted her either.

The accused was arrested Monday afternoon and charged with two counts of assault, two counts of forcible confinement, and three counts of uttering threats.

He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Three more arrests from CKPS wanted list

Just one day after police knocked a trio of names off of their wanted list, officers arrested another three people who were wanted for various offences.

Police said a 38-year-old Ridgetown man who was wanted for two counts of assault and one count of breaching his release conditions was arrested at a local motel Monday night. He was later released with a future court date.

Also Monday night, a 33-year-old Wheatley man was arrested in connection with an assault in Wheatley that police say took place Friday night. The accused in that case was charged with break-and-enter while committing a robbery and was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

The third suspect, a 38-year-old man was wanted for drug possession, was arrested in Wallaceburg Monday night. Police said they also allegedly found a stolen iPad and a lockbox from a Wallaceburg business on him when they searched him. The accused in the third case was also being held in police custody pending a bail hearing.

Three drivers stopped near an elementary school in Chatham

A traffic enforcement initiative at the crosswalk near Tecumseh Public School on McNaughton Avenue in Chatham netted three delinquent drivers Monday afternoon.

Police said two of the motorists were charged with speeding and one was charged with disobeying a red light.

Police release photos in clothing theft investigation

Chatham-Kent police are asking for help to identify two women in connection with a theft investigation at Pennington's on Grand Avenue in Chatham.

Police said officers were called to the store at around 11 a.m. Monday in connection with the report.
