The Chatham Maroons are closing out the regular season Sunday night with a home game against the St. Marys Lincolns.
The game won't make a difference in the standings -- Chatham is already locked into third place, setting up a first-round playoff series with Komoka -- but it will still have some sentimental -- and possibly statistical -- value for both teams.
Sunday's contest in Chatham will mark the final regular season game in the GOJHL for nine Maroons players and the final game overall for one of the Lincolns (Brett Whitehead) because St. Marys didn't make the cut for the playoffs.
The Maroons who are "graduating" include captain Dane Johnstone and alternate captains Dakota Bohn, Jake O'Donnell, and Nolan Gardiner along with Eddie Schulz, Sean O'Brien, Justin Badour, Matt Murray, and Tristan Lewis.
They are all expected to be honoured before the game in a special ceremony.
A couple of those players could also hit some career milestones -- Justin Badour is at 49 regular season points through four years in the league and Dane Johnstone could hit 30 goals for the first time in his Jr. B career if he scores a hat trick.
You can hear tonight's game on Country 92.9FM/AM 630 CFCO or by clicking here https://country929.com/. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
