Freezing rain likely for Wednesday

Another round of slick, wet weather could be headed our way this week.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for all of southern Ontario for Wednesday, as freezing rain is in the forecast. The statement area covers London-Middlesex, Chatham-Kent, Windsor-Essex, Sarnia-Lambton and Midwestern Ontario.

The weather agency is tracking a low-pressure system from Texas, which is expected to move to the Great Lakes region on Wednesday. Precipitation associated with this system will begin as snow Wednesday morning for southwestern Ontario, but will quickly change over to freezing rain and then to rain late in the day.

The mixed bag of weather may result in challenging travel throughout the region on Wednesday. Untreated surfaces, such as roads, walkways and parking lots, could become slippery and dangerous.
