Environment Canada suggests holding onto your hat if you're out and about Friday.
The weather agency has issued a special weather statement for Windsor-Essex, London-Middlesex, Chatham-Kent, Oxford, and Elgin, with high winds in the forecast that will push temperatures back down.
A potent arctic cold front is expected to push its way through the region in the evening, and temperatures that were mild earlier this week will begin to plummet as it moves its way through.
According to Environment Canada, strong southwesterly winds may reach 70 and 80 kilometres per hour, with a few areas seeing gusts up to 90 kilometres-per-hour. These winds will continue overnight and then begin to diminish Friday afternoon. These winds are strong enough to cause minor tree damage and some power outages.
Temperatures for Friday morning may only get to -6 C and lows Friday night may reach -12 C.
The temperature Thursday night is expected to reach 13 C by 10 p.m., which could tie a 2017 record high for February 7.
