It's a stark reminder of the damage that can be caused by not cleaning off your vehicle in the winter.
Chatham-Kent OPP said a 43-year-old truck driver from Mississauga is charged after a large piece of ice flew off of a transport truck that was heading west on Highway 401 near Highway 40 at around 11 a.m. Saturday morning and hit a westbound passenger vehicle's windshield, causing significant damage.
Police said no injuries were reported, but the passenger vehicle had to be towed from the scene.
The driver of the transport truck was charged with driving with an insecure load, which can include a fine of between $130-$310.
Police are also warning all drivers that failing to remove ice and snow from a vehicle can result in a fine, but more importantly, could result in serious injury or death.
