Man accused of assaulting girlfriend

A 19-year-old Blenheim man is charged with uttering threats and two counts of assault in connection with a domestic assault investigation.

Chatham-Kent police said they made the arrest after receiving a tip Monday night that a local man had allegedly assaulted and threatened his girlfriend and her dog. Police said they also learned that it wasn't the first incident of domestic violence in the relationship.

The accused was arrested, charged, and taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Thousands of dollars in damage, theft in Wheatley break-in

Chatham-Kent police are appealing to the public for tips after someone broke into H&H Wood Products on Eastman Drive in Wheatley.

Police said it happened sometime between Saturday at 11 a.m. and Monday at 6 a.m. adding that the damage caused by the break-in is estimated at $3,000.

Investigators said whoever broke in also took off with various power and hand tools, an Acer laptop, a Dell tablet, and some cash with a combined estimated value of $12,000.

Propane tanks reported stolen in Bothwell

Chatham-Kent police are investigating after someone stole seven 20-pound propane tanks from a shed at Main Street Auto Parts in Bothwell.

Police said the tanks were taken sometime between 6 p.m. Sunday and 7:30 a.m. Monday. The total value of the stolen tanks is estimated at $400.

Jewelry reported stolen in Chatham

Anyone with information on a recent break-in on Southend Crescent in Chatham is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.

Chatham-Kent police said someone broke into a home on that street sometime between 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Monday and took off with about $2,500 worth of jewelry and a Samsung tablet.

Tools stolen from shed in Wallaceburg

Chatham-Kent police are working to track down some construction equipment that was stolen from a storage shed on Elizabeth Street in Wallaceburg.

Police said a blue and black Mastercraft heavy duty compressor, a Mastercraft roller jack, two Mastercraft axle stands, and a 24” Mastercraft breaker bar were all taken sometime over the weekend.

The total value of the theft is $500 and anyone with information is asked to contact Constable Ken Morrell at kenm@chatham-kent.ca or 519-436-6600 ext. 87272. Shoplifting complaint leads to charges

Chatham-Kent police have arrested a Chatham man who was wanted in connection with a pair of local shoplifting incidents.

Police said they made an arrest late Monday afternoon after receiving a complaint at the Canadian Tire store in Chatham and connected the suspect to another incident at Shoppers Drug Mart earlier this month.

A 32-year-old Chatham man is now charged with two counts of theft and two counts of possession of stolen property. He was released with conditions and a future court date.

Woman arrested after failing roadside test

A 25-year-old Milton woman will have to ride in the passenger's seat for about a week after allegedly failing a roadside test on Bloomfield Road just outside of Chatham.

OPP said they pulled the woman's vehicle over at approximately 6 p.m. Monday for a traffic violation and determined the driver had been drinking alcohol.

After allegedly failing a roadside test, the driver was charged with impaired driving. As a result, the driver's licence was suspended and the vehicle was impounded temporarily.
