In just under three days, over 59,000 applications for retail pot licenses were submitted to the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario website.
Of that, 12,294 were from the west region.
There were seven licenses up for grabs in the west, 20 applications are sitting on a waitlist.
It's unclear at this time if any of the numbered companies selected in Friday's lottery were from Sarnia or Chatham-Kent.
The selected applications now have until this Friday to submit a $50,000 standby letter of credit, submit a retail operator licence application and make a non-refundable $6,000 payment.
If they don't, one of the waitlisted applications will be bumped to the selected list.
Municipalities are required to make a decision by January 22 to be eligible to operate a store beginning April 1, 2019. Sarnia City Council voted yes at its meeting December 17, 2018.
