Man suffers serious hand injuries after dog attack

An investigation is underway after a dog and its owner were attacked by another dog in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent's Manager of Animal Control Services Jason Hamm said the attack took place in the area of Sandys Street and Mcnaughton Avenue at around 2:30 p.m. Thursday, January 3.

Hamm said it a male American Bulldog ran across McNaughton Avenue and attempted to go after a dog that was being walked by a 64-year-old man. The man reportedly tried to save his dog from being attacked and as a result, he received serious injuries to his left hand and later attended the hospital in Chatham for treatment.
