Car in a culvert leads to drunk driving charges

Ontario Provincial Police in Essex has charged a Chatham man with drunk driving after officers found a car hanging into a culvert at the end of a driveway.

Officers said it happened at a South Malden Road home in the Town of Essex on Friday at around 8 p.m. Investigators added the resident called police saying there was an unwanted person on their property. Police said the driver showed signs of impairment and placed him under arrest.

Rene Perron, 55, of Chatham is charged with impaired driving. His driver's licence was seized and his vehicle was impounded.

None of the allegations have been proven in court.
