Curtis Douglas led things off with a natural hat trick in the Windsor Spitfires' 7-1 win over the Saginaw Spirit at the WFCU Centre.
The Remembrance Day matinee romp was the start of a huge offensive effort for the Spits, who picked up their fourth win in a row and now have 21 points in the OHL West Division.
Douglas' trifecta accounted for all the scoring in the first period and left his season goal total at nine. His first goal was scored at 9:09 in the frame and he had completed his hat trick within less than a four-and-a-half minute span.
Windsor added another trio of unanswered goals in the second period. Tyler Angle scored at 11:14 for his sixth of the season. Saginaw goalie Ivan Prosvetov was pulled in favour of backup Cameron Lamour. Right after, Daniel D'Amico scored back-to-back goals over a two-minute, one-second span to extend the Spits' lead to 6-0. The Spirit did get on the board before second intermission with Damien Giroux's eighth goal of the year.
Cole Purboo added another goal for Windsor in the third period, on the power play.
Michael DiPietro had 31 saves in goal for the Spitfires. Prosvetov and Lamour combined for 35 saves.
Windsor completes its four-game homestand on Thursday when they host the Oshawa Generals.
