Chatham Goodfellows now accepting registrations

The Chatham Goodfellows office is now open.

The group started taking phone calls Monday at 9 a.m. for their Christmas toy and food baskets.

"Any child 12 and under receives a toy basket, and in the toy basket they get a load of toys. If they're 12 they get a hygiene pack," said board member Tim Mifflin. "Of course we do the food baskets for families of two and under, and the large food baskets for two or more people."

There is no background check, Mifflin said they are just there to take your name.

"We work very closely with the Salvation Army, and we want to make sure that the whole municipality is covered. So we do that cross-reference, but we don't do credit checks, we don't check for anything like that. We don't do anything intrusive."

Mifflin said last year they put together over 1,400 toy hampers and about the same number of food baskets.

"We are a group of volunteers who come together every year with one simple motto, No Child Without a Christmas. And it works out pretty well each and every year, and we are pretty proud of what we do. If someone's in need, give us a call."

The Chatham Goodfellows can be reached at 519-354-1146, Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The last date for names to be registered is Friday, November 30th. For more information on how to register, or to volunteer, CLICK HERE.
