CK police briefs - Tuesday, October 30, 2018

Chatham-Kent police have arrested another teenager in connection with a break-in.

It's alleged that two youths broke into a house on Chippewa Drive in Chatham on October 25. A 15-year-old was found shortly after officers arrived on scene. The youth was charged with break and enter and breach of probation.

The second suspect, a 14-year-old Chatham teen, was found early Tuesday morning. The second youth has been charged with break and enter and two counts of failing to comply with his release conditions.

Officers are trying to find $2,000 worth of tools stolen from a property on Grand Avenue West in Chatham.

The property is currently under construction. Police said the suspect(s) caused about $500 worth of damages before taking off with the tools Tuesday morning.

A 28-year-old Chatham man is facing theft charges for allegedly stealing a security camera.

Police said the camera, which was mounted outside of a residence on Birchwood Street, was reported stolen Monday morning.

The 28-year-old was identified and found Monday night. He is now charged with theft under $5,000 and will have to appear in court on November 16.

Only a couple of warnings were handed out during a RIDE check Monday night.

Officers conducted the spot check on Ridge Line near Kent Bridge Road. Out of the 15 vehicles stopped, two drivers were given warnings for traffic offences.

A 67-year-old Chatham man has been charged with being intoxicated in a public place.

Officers found the man passed out in downtown Chatham Monday night around 6:30 p.m. Police said he was unable to care for himself and taken into custody until sober.
