Chatham-Kent police are investigating a crash that took place in a construction zone on Warwick Drive in Chatham.
Officers were called to the area Friday afternoon after a vehicle hit a hydro pole. The street has been under construction since mid-September to remove and replace the water and sewer lines.
Sergeant Paul Pomajba said a driver "disregarded" the signs posted and drove down the street, which is to be used by local traffic only.
"Once [the driver] realized that the road was not open for traffic they got into a motor vehicle collision with another construction vehicle and their vehicle came to rest against a hydro pole, causing the hydro to be out in this area," he said.
Entegrus crews were called shortly after the incident to replace the hydro pole and fix the power lines.
One person was taken into custody, however, there's no word of if charges have been laid.
"We have someone under arrest with regards to the motor vehicle collision," said Pomajba. "Because it's an active criminal case we don't have anything further to say at this point."
No injuries were reported at the scene. A damage estimate is unknown.
