Postal strike affecting Ontario Works cheques

November Ontario Works cheques will not be mailed out in Chatham-Kent.

Instead, because of rotating 24-hour strikes at Canada Post, cheques will be handed out in person at the Employment & Social Services offices.

Clients need to bring their ID to pick up their cheque -- either one form of photo ID or two forms of non-photo ID.

Clients that signed up for Direct Bank Deposit will not be affected, though.

Ontario Works cheques and statements can be picked up at the following dates and locations:

If you live in Chatham, Dover Centre, Grand Pointe, Kent Bridge, North & South Buxton and Pain Court:

October 30 - November 1: 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. at Employment & Social Services, 435 Grand Avenue West, Chatham.

If you live in Coatsworth, Merlin, Tilbury, and Wheatley:

Oct. 30 & 31: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Tilbury Municipal Centre, 17 Superior Street, Tilbury Nov. 1: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at Employment & Social Services, 435 Grand Ave. W., Chatham.

If you live in Blenheim, Cedar Springs, Charing Cross, Dealtown, Erie Beach, Erieau and Shrewsbury:

Oct. 30 & 31: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Blenheim Municipal Centre, 35 Talbot Street West, Blenheim Nov. 1: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at Employment & Social Services, 435 Grand Ave. W., Chatham.

If you live in Bothwell, Thamesville, Duart, Highgate, Morpeth, Muirkirk, and Ridgetown:

Oct. 30 & 31: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Ridgetown Municipal Centre, 45 Main Street East, Ridgetown Nov. 1: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at Employment & Social Services, 435 Grand Ave. W., Chatham.

If you live in Dresden, Tupperville and Wallaceburg:

Oct. 30 & 31: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Wallaceburg Municipal Centre, 786 Dufferin Avenue, Wallaceburg. Nov. 1: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at Employment & Social Services, 435 Grand Ave. W., Chatham.
