Chatham man accused of driving drunk on Hwy. 401

Chatham-Kent OPP caught an alleged intoxicated driver on Highway 401 over the weekend.

Police said they got a call around 9:15 p.m. Saturday about a driver near Queens Line weaving "all over the road." The vehicle was located and after speaking with the driver they determined he had been drinking alcohol. He was then taken to the detachment for further tests.

A 40-year-old man from Chatham was charged with driving a motor vehicle while impaired, failing or refusing to provide a sample and failing to surrender licence.

He'll appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on November 28.

OPP said they are actively monitoring the "Big 4" driving behaviours of impaired driving, speeding, distracted driving, and seatbelt usage.
