Vipers edge Maroons 5-4 in OT

The Chatham Maroons dropped a 5-4 overtime decision to the LaSalle Vipers on Wednesday.

Kory Silverio and Colton Krzeminski scored for LaSalle in the first nine minutes of the game, but Josh King and Darby Lemieux both scored for Chatham to tie the game 13:25 into the first period.  Aaron Shaw added one more for the Vipers before the end of the frame to give them a 3-2 advantage heading into the second.

The Vipers extended their lead thanks to a goal from Evan Ferguson 14:02 into the second. However, Brett Fisher and Matt Murray each scored a goal for Chatham late in the second to tie the game once again.

After a scoreless third period, the game was forced into overtime where Aaron Shaw scored the game-winner for LaSalle in just over a minute.

The Maroons return to home ice on Sunday to face off against the Sarnia Legionnaires at 7 p.m. And then on October 10, the Vipers remain in LaSalle to battle the Komoka Kings at 7 p.m.

The Toronto Blue Jays lost 7-6 in 10 innings to Tampa Bay. The Kitchener Rangers are OHL champions.
