Chatham man connected to break-in
Chatham-Kent police have made an arrest in connection with break-in on Prince Arthur Street in Chatham earlier this month.
Police said someone broke into a home on that street, causing about $250 in damage before taking off with about $3,000 worth of electronics and other various items.
Investigators said they were able to identify the person responsible and arrested him Wednesday morning while he was riding a stolen bicycle in the area of Thames Street in Chatham.
Officers said they found some break-in tools in a backpack the man was carrying with him -- that included bolt cutters, Allen wrenches, needle nose vice grips, and a homemade device to break windows.
A 27-year-old Chatham man has been charged with break and enter, possession of break-in tools, and possession of stolen property. He was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Another man arrested with break-in tools
Chatham-Kent police said they arrested a second man in Chatham Wednesday who was carrying around some break-in tools.
Officers said the man was wanted on numerous outstanding warrants and was arrested in the area of Patteson Avenue.
Police said when they were searching the man, they found a backpack full of wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, a wire cutter, a knife, a drill, and some flashlights.
A 44-year-old Chatham man was charged with possession of break-in tools and was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Police find crystal meth during search
A 31-year-old Wallaceburg man is charged with drug possession after police allegedly found some crystal methamphetamine on him Wednesday night.
Officers said they found the drugs after arresting the man for failing to comply with his release conditions.
He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Shoplifting at TSC in Chatham
Shoplifting appears to be a popular offence at a shopping plaza in Chatham's north end recently.
After two incidents were reported at the Walmart store earlier this week, the TSC was targeted this time around.
Chatham-Kent police were called to the TSC on St. Clair Street late Wednesday afternoon after a woman walked out of the store without paying for about $100 worth of merchandise she had allegedly tucked into her handbag.
Police said a security officer confronted the woman outside the store and kept her there until police arrived and arrested her.
A 45-year-old Chatham woman is charged with theft, possession of stolen property, and breaching her probation. She was taken into custody pending a bail hearing.

Police looking for stolen car
Chatham-Kent police are asking for tips from the public as they try to return a stolen silver 2001 Honda Civic to its rightful owner.
Police said it was taken sometime between 4 a.m. and 8 a.m. Thursday from a residence on Pine Street in Chatham.
The car was last seen with Ontario license plates CFRM 420 and has a black hood scoop, dragon decals on the two front fenders and tinted windows.
