A Brampton truck driver is set to learn his fate in a Chatham courtroom Tuesday morning.
52-year-old Manjit Parmar pleaded guilty to five charges earlier this summer in connection with a crash on the Highway 401 in July 2017 that claimed the lives of an Amherstburg woman and her teenage son.
Ontario Provincial Police charged Parmar after the transport truck he was driving smashed into the back of a pickup truck on the highway near Dillon Road at around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 30, 2017.
The force of that collision caused a six-vehicle pile-up that killed 42-year-old Lacie Brundritt and her 14-year-old son Kyle.
Kyle’s 39-year-old father Michael was airlifted to hospital from the scene with serious injuries and another member of the family, 12-year-old Evan Brundritt, was rushed to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
