Ontario Farmers Welcome American Peers To CK

Amid the trade dispute between Canada and the U.S., an Ontario farming group is taking the high road by extending an invitation to their American counterparts.

The Ontario Plowmen’s Association is in Michigan for the next two days at the AgroExpo. According to a news release, the association is personally inviting the American agricultural community to Chatham-Kent for the International Plowing Match and Rural Expo (IPM) in September.

"There is no other event as rich in history and rural roots with grand displays of all things agriculture as the International Plowing Match and Rural Expo,” says Kailey Donaldson, reigning Ontario Queen of the Furrow in a press release. “I encourage everyone, young and old, to take part in this annual celebration! Be a part of history!"

With the annual event being held in Chatham-Kent this year, it makes for a rather short road trip for those in Detroit.

"Take advantage of the low Canadian dollar in our tented city, offering 500 vendors and exhibitors from heavy machinery to food and rural living," as stated in the release. "Explore antique and historical displays and new technologies in the Farming for the Future tent."

As stated in the release, the IPM typically attracts more than 80,000 people from across the country and in the U.S.

The 2018 IPM is set for September 18-22 in Pain Court.
