After 18 years as CEO of Goodwill Industries-Essex Kent Lambton, Kevin Smith has retired.
Board of Directors President Dave Watson says Smith officially ended his role at the helm on Monday, July 23.
"He's worked overtime I'm going to say for the last 18 years constantly trying to improve the communities that we serve with Goodwill," says Watson. "There come's a time you just need a well-deserved lawn chair and a cold beer and I think that time has come for Kevin. He's done an amazing job, he's grown our organization 14 times bigger than it was when he joined."
Watson says they're not rushing into anything to replace Kevin Smith right now.
"We've got a pretty dynamic and strong leadership team, executive team behind Kevin and they're going to take on the lion's share of those roles," he says.
Watson says in the interim they will also work with Goodwill Industries, Ontario Great Lakes out of London, with any high-level strategic decisions.
He says they anticipate the day to day operations will be business as usual in the interim.
