United Way Of CK Finds New CEO

The United Way of Chatham-Kent has chosen a local resident and a familiar face to lead the organization.

Steve Pratt, a former fundraising co-chair, will replace Karen Kirkwood-Whyte as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) once she retires on August 17.

"It is clear that his passion and commitment to community will serve our organization well," says Kirkwood-Whyte. "I look forward to passing the baton to an individual who is focused on ensuring that our organizational mission [to improve lives and build community] is achieved.”

According to a media release sent from the United Way, Pratt has the experience needed and has first-hand knowledge of how helpful the services are for local residents.

“I am both humbled and honoured to accept this leadership position with an organization that affects over 40,000 lives each year in our community,” says Pratt. “I look forward to working with the United Way Board of Directors, volunteers, and staff to build ‘a strong and vibrant community free of poverty with children achieving all they can.'"

Kirkwood-Whyte's last project as CEO will be a fundraiser celebrating her retirement. Tickets for the event can be found by clicking here.
