Alleged Drug Dealer Found Riding Stolen Bike

A 30-year-old Chatham man is facing multiple drug and theft-related charges after police found him riding a bike on Grand Ave. overnight.

Police say they stopped the man after seeing him riding what they suspected was a stolen bicycle at around 2:45am Tuesday. Officers say they later confirmed that the bike was reported stolen back in April.

Investigators say in addition to the bike, the man also allegedly had various illegal drugs and a large tool case filled with wrenches and ratchet sets with him. Officers allege the drugs they found on him include methamphetamine, cocaine, crack cocaine, and hydromorphone.

Police say the man is now charged with possession of stolen property, possession of stolen property, and five counts of possession for the purposes of trafficking.

He has been released with conditions and a future court date.
