With its long-term future uncertain, Ridgetown District High School continues to honour its rich history by recognizing some of its most distinguished alumni.
This year, long-time Canadian diplomat J. Gregory Goldhawk received the honour and distinction of being the 42nd graduate named to the school's Hall of Excellence.
Goldhawk, who grew up on a family farm just south of Ridgetown, is currently back in Ottawa with his wife and daughter after years of serving Canadian interests all over the world including Greece, the Korean Peninsula, Australia, Mongolia, and most recently, South Africa.
Some of his work during that time includes assisting Canadian firms bidding on work overseas, developing international trade policies, acting as a liaison for the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games between Australian officials and the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic organizations, increasing trade opportunities in Thailand, and business development in south African nations.
RDHS' Hall of Distinction was established in 2001 to recognize graduates who went on to excel in their chosen professions.
