Clock Is Ticking To Run In Municipal Election

Time is winding down for Chatham-Kent residents to file their nomination papers to run in the 2018 municipal election. After this week, residents will have less than a month to announce their candidacy, as the deadline to file is July 27.

Below is a current list of people running for a position on Chatham-Kent council. The names in bold are those who filed their papers this week.

Ward 1 – West Kent

Brenda Rumble filed her papers this week for the position of trustee. Other people vying for the position include Pierre Lambert, John Mrnik, Robert (Bob) Demers, and John Van Heck.

As for mayoral candidates, Councillor Darrin Canniff and local advocate Alysson Storey are the only two to file their papers. Mayor Randy Hope had previously said he will file his papers but has yet to do so.
