Fifth St. Bridge Almost Ready

The wait is almost over for Fifth St. Bridge to reopen in Chatham.

General Manager of Infrastructure and Engineering Services Thomas Kelly says as long as the weather cooperates, the bridge should be finished before the end of the month.

He says workers still need to put in high-speed internet cables for the conduits across the bridge.

"You're still going to see some fencing up though when it's done," explains Kelly. "That's because we still have a subcontractor doing some cabling work across the bridge, but it's independent of the road itself and the bridge."

Kelly says the contractor will be working there until the end of October or November to finish that work.

He says the work won't impede any traffic or pedestrians.
