A local drag racing team is in the spotlight after filming for a popular American TV show.
John Reid is a driver for a drag racing team based out of Ridgetown called "Team Reid." He says the team participates in a lot of drag racing events in towns across Ontario.
Team Reid went to Oklahoma at the end of May to be on the Discovery Channel's show Street Outlaws.
"One of the car groups that we belong to, Ontario Street Outlaws, we run their series all summer and they had reached out to ask us if we wanted to go to Oklahoma to race the 405 guys," he says.
Reid says being on the show was a fantastic experience.
"It really was fun. They do have a lot of cameras coming in your face and everywhere," says Reid. "It was a little bit nerve-wracking at times, but it was very exciting."
Reid says the race will air on the show sometime in August.
"I think it's going to be really huge for not only Team Reid, but Ridgetown. We're just a small group of guys with one gal. We work out a two-car garage," he says. "It's really great to see the exposure of Team Reid on national TV."
Reid thanks his teammates Brian Walker, Ryan Borst Beausmith, and Madison Reid for helping make the opportunity possible.
