A crash involving a van and a tractor trailer Tuesday afternoon closed the westbound lanes of Hwy. 401 in Chatham-Kent for about two hours.
OPP Constable Jay Denorer says both vehicles were heading east when a tire blew out on the tractor trailer and caused the collision at Charing Cross Rd. around 1:30pm.

He says both vehicles crossed the median into the westbound lanes but an OPP officer saw the crash and immediately activated her lights, stopping a head-on crash.
No charges will be laid.
The westbound lanes re-opened around 3:30pm.
