The International Plowing Match in Chatham-Kent is getting a $25,000 donation of gasoline and diesel to help fuel the event in September.
Waddick Fuels announced the donation on Thursday, which will be used to fuel transportation to and from the event, and for tractors within the match itself.
“It was an easy decision,” says Jaymie Waddick, manager of Waddick Fuels, which is based in Chatham-Kent. “Since my Grandpa started this business in 1946, agriculture has been a big part of the business and farm accounts are still our biggest customer base by far.”
The fuel will also be used for equipment used to build event's Tented City and the RV Park.
“Having a local company supply the fuel needs of the Match makes a big difference,” says co-chair Leon Leclair. “The fact that Jaymie lives in Pain Court just a short distance from the Match adds to the local flavour.”
