Wheatley Crash Takes Tragic Turn

Chatham-Kent police say a 78-year-old man has died from his injuries after a serious crash in Wheatley late last month.

Officers say John Allen Bedford was rushed to a hospital in Windsor with serious injuries after he was hit by a vehicle at around 11pm on March 27 while he was walking across Erie St. S between Moore St. and Lamarsh St.

Police say he has since succumbed to his injuries.

In a previous release, officers reported that the person who was driving the vehicle that hit Bedford, also a 78-year-old Wheatley man, stopped immediately to help.

The crash is still under investigation and officers are again asking anyone with information to contact Constable Randy Whittaker at [email protected] or 519-355-1092.
