Nearly 500 grade four students from 14 schools in Huron and Perth counties took in this year's Huron Perth Agriculture and Water Festival in Seaforth.
Festival Committee Coordinator Johanna Hayes says the event gives students an idea of what agriculture is all about.
They had beef and dairy cattle, chickens and pigs, and the kids got a first hand look at what the animals look like and how they influence farming.
Two local conservation authorities were represented on the water side as well as the Lake Huron Coastal Centre, the Huron-Perth Trappers, the Huron County Museum and Huron Stewardship.
Hayes says one group talked about the need to conserve water in spite of the easy access we have to it, another talked about how various pollutants find their way to the lake, and there were discussions around water safety and water history.
The two-day festival has evolved from what was the Slice of Huron Festival back in the early 1990s.
