Wallaceburg Man Charged After Dog Attack

A 36-year-old Wallaceburg man has been charged with multiple offences after a dog attacked another dog in Wallaceburg March 17.

Jason Hamm, Manager of Animal Control Services in Chatham-Kent says an 8-year-old male bull terrier attacked a Shih Tzu-Poodle mix while it was tethered outside its home. He says nearby witnesses intervened and attempted to stop the attack but the Shih Tzu mix sustained injuries to its neck and ear area and was taken to an emergency veterinarian office.

The dog was seized March 21 and is no longer at the owner's home.

Hamm says the victimized dog is now home and recovering from its injuries.

An investigation discovered that the bull terrier was deemed potentially dangerous and was required to wear a muzzle when off the dog owner's property but was not wearing it at the time of the attack on Reaume Ave.
