Windsor Gas Thief Facing Charges

A Windsor man has been arrested after he allegedly stole gas from several Chatham gas stations to fuel his stolen car.

Police say on March 22, a man went to a gas station on Richmond St. in Chatham where he pumped $56 of gasoline into his vehicle and left without paying. According to police, the licence plates on the vehicle were also stolen.

Then on Thursday morning, police say the same man and vehicle went to a gas station on McNaughton Ave. in Wallaceburg where he pumped $40 of gasoline and left without paying.

Later that day, police say he went to another gas station on Grand Ave. in Chatham and pumped $38 of gasoline without paying.

According to police, the man was found in his vehicle on Grande Ave. in Chatham on Friday at around 6:30pm.

Police discovered that the vehicle was also stolen. The man was arrested at the scene.

A 34-year-old Windsor man has been charged with three counts of theft under $5,000, one count of possession of stolen property under $5,000, and one count of possession of stolen property over $5,000.

He has been released from custody with a future court date.
