A little boy from Wallaceburg is still on the long road to recovery after he was attacked by dogs while he was tobogganing.
And while Tucker Marcolin grows stronger, so does the support from the Chatham-Kent community.
Chatham-Kent police reported last month that a 3-year-old boy was attacked by two dogs while tobogganing at Jaycee Park in Wallaceburg on February 5.
According to a GoFundMe page that is no longer active, the toddler required eye surgery and needed several stitches on his face and leg. The most recent update on the page said the toddler’s condition was improving and he was being moved out of the ICU at a Michigan hospital.
A fundraiser for Tucker Marcolin and his family was hosted by Stingrays on Saturday, March 10 at the Moose Lodge in Wallaceburg.
Event organizer Dan Robinson says the event was very successful.
"The community came together and supported the Marcolin family fundraiser," says Robinson. "Through the donation box, the 50/50 draw, the silent auction, the raffles, and the doors, the family came out with $4,812."
Robinson says around 270 people attended the fundraiser throughout the day.
"Our whole objective was to raise money for the family because they have to go to appointments at doctors, lodging, and gas," he says.
Robinson says it looks like Tucker is doing much better since the attack.
"I saw him at the event. He was a little energized bunny running around having fun as a little child should," he says.
According to Robinson, Tucker still has to go to the hospital once a week for checkups.
The GoFundMe page shows a total of $26,070 was raised for the young boy.
