More Women Taking Computer Networking At St. Clair College

The Computer Networking programs at St. Clair College has earned the number one spot in Canada for having the most women enrolled.

There are 50 female students enrolled in those programs, about 23% of the entire enrolment. The Canadian average is only 13%.

St. Clair College also ranked number two in the country for total enrolment in its computer networking programs.

While there has been a surge in female enrolment, many of those students come from foreign countries.

Second-year student Trushna Patel decided to switch to computer networking while taking another program.

"I really did have a lot of interest in computer programming or networking until I came to Canada to study," she says. "I was taking International Business when I met Professor [Ruth] Susannah. She convinced me that I would like what this program has to offer and she was right."

The college's computer networking programs are Cisco Network Academy certified since 2006.
