Charges After Driver Falls Asleep Behind The Wheel

The Ontario Provincial Police are reminding drivers to make sure they are well rested before they get behind the wheel.

Police have charged a 20-year-old Windsor man after a vehicle entered the centre median on Hwy. 401 near Scane Rd. in Chatham-Kent Wednesday night, and crashed.

The driver had fallen asleep at the wheel and is charged now with careless driving.

Police remind drivers to stay off the road if they are not comfortable with their physical, mental, or emotional state. They say the ability to drive can change from one day to the next, and a number of factors can affect the ability to drive safely, including illness, fatigue, and even taking over-the-counter medications.

Fortunately, no one was hurt.
