Agreement Reached To Keep Provincial Snow Plows Rolling

Provincial highway snow plowing will continue uninterrupted for the rest of this winter.

The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) is reporting that an arrangement is in place with Carillion Canada.

Minister of Transportation Kathryn McGarry says productive meetings have been held over the past few days about continuing winter maintenance services in eight contract areas across Ontario, including the London, Chatham, and Windsor areas.  McGarry says this arrangement protects over 1,100 jobs in Ontario.

The MTO promises to continue working closely with Carillion Canada in the coming weeks and months. The MTO says it continues looking at all of the options available for continuing highway maintenance activities once the winter ends.

Parent company Carillion UK announced this week that it was forced into bankruptcy.
