Flu Outbreak At Chatham Hospital

There's a flu outbreak at the Chatham hospital.

The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance and the Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit have put visitor restrictions in place for patients on Medicine Unit B and the fourth-floor Complex Continuing Care until further notice. Hospital officials say that's because several patients and staff have tested positive for Influenza A. Flu symptoms include fever, chills, cough, runny nose, sore throat, headache and muscle aches.

Officials at the hospital are asking anyone who is not feeling well, particularly with flu-like symptoms, to not visit patients during this outbreak. Anyone visiting patients who may have influenza will be required to wear a mask, gown, and gloves. No children under 12 can visit the affected units for their own safety and that of the patients and staff. Visitors will be asked to wash their hands upon entering and exiting the main entrance only.

All hospital services are being offered as usual in other areas of the hospital.
