Christmas Eve Snowfall Warning in Effect

Those who wanted a white Christmas are going to be very happy.

With Christmas Eve snow already falling across southern Ontario, Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the following areas:

• Chatham-Kent - Rondeau Park
• Windsor - Leamington - Essex County
• Rodney - Shedden - Western Elgin County

Santa Claus should have no trouble gently landing his sleigh, as up to 15cm of new snow is in the forecast for Sunday night and early Monday morning. A snowfall warning is issued when snowfall is likely to accumulate to 15cm or more in a 12-hour period.

The snow is expected to taper off early Christmas morning.

While the snow is lovely to look at as Ontarians celebrate the Christmas holiday, it can also post a challenge for those traveling to see family and friends. Lower visibility could make travel difficult. An increase of winds on Christmas Day may cause blowing snow.
