Over 1,000 donated presents are nestled safely under the Christmas trees of local children in need, thanks to the efforts of Chatham Goodfellows.
The Chatham Goodfellows' "No Child Without a Christmas" toy drive wrapped up Monday evening with around 200 to 250 volunteers helping to deliver toys, that had been donated by charitable community members.
"It's been really exciting to see how much help we've been getting from our community this year," says Tim Haskell, the president of Chatham Goodfellows.
Haskell says the campaign has personal importance to him as well.
"When I was a kid, I received Chatham Goodfellows, and I've been doing this for about 40 years now," he says. "I just want to make sure that every kid out there gets a good Christmas."
This is the 63rd year of the "No Child Without a Christmas" campaign, and Haskell says they were able to fill around 600 boxes with toy donations. He says about 1,200 children had toys delivered to their homes Monday evening.
"Usually trucks and different businesses around town will come in and help us," he says. "We've had a really good response from our community. They always step up and help us out."
